Thabang Matona is a youth development advocate from Soweto, raised by his grandmother and mother. An alumnus of the African Leadership Academy and a graduate of Brandeis University in Massachusetts, Thabang is passionate about social equity and leadership. In his TEDx talk, “One Banana Is Better Than No Banana at All,” he reflects on small acts of dignity and shared humanity through the lens of his upbringing.
In this episode, he draws from that talk to explore how value-based credit, anchored in trust, dignity, and community, could drive meaningful change in society, especially for those often left out of traditional systems of opportunity.
